Deadline: 30 Days Prior to the Election (must be RECEIVED by 10/3/04)

Registration Requirements:

• U.S. citizen
• Michigan resident and a resident of city or township at least 30 days prior to the election
• at least 18 years old on or before the next election
• not in jail after being convicted and sentenced

If you register by mail, you must vote in person at your assigned precinct the first time you vote, unless you are: disabled, over 60 years old, temporarily residing overseas.

Absentee Ballot

Request your absent voter ballot from your City or Township Clerk in writing including: name, address, reason for requesting ballot and signature

Application Deadline: 2pm Saturday Before the Election (must be RECEIVED by 10/30/04)

Ballot Deadline: 8pm on Election Day (must be RECEIVED by 11/2/04)

Special Criteria: In order to vote absentee you must fit one of the following

• expecting to be out of town on election day
• 60 year old or older
• unable to vote without assistance at the polls
• in jail awaiting arraignment or trial
• religious reasons
• appointed to work as an election inspector in another precinct
